EEG (electroencephalography)

Driver Drowsiness and Attention Warning. The driver inattention and drowsiness warning system. It recognises the drop in attention and alerts the driver.
An episode of involuntary sleep lasting a few seconds. While driving it is particularly dangerous because it happens without the person noticing.
The decline in performance and attention due to tiredness, insufficient sleep or prolonged driving. One of the most underestimated causes of road accidents.
The driver’s state of readiness and attention. When alertness drops, the risk of microsleep rises.
The internal biological clock that regulates sleep and wakefulness over 24 hours. It pushes toward sleep especially at night and in the early morning hours.
General Safety Regulation II — The European regulation (EU) 2019/2144 that made DDAW mandatory on new heavy commercial vehicles from 2026.
Fatigue Risk Management System. A system for managing fatigue risk: the set of processes and tools an organisation uses to keep drivers’ tiredness under control.
In insurance and fleet language, a road accident. Reducing fatigue-related claims affects both safety and insurance costs.
The arrangement by which an asset is granted for free use for a period. It is often used for pilot programmes like Oraigo’s.

What is the difference between fatigue and microsleep?
Fatigue is the gradual decline in attention; microsleep is the sudden episode of sleep, lasting a few seconds, that can result from it.
Is DDAW mandatory?
DDAW is mandatory on new heavy commercial vehicles from 2026 under GSR II; earlier vehicles do not have it as standard.
