03 — Electrode setup

Electrode placement

Proper placement of the electrodes on the forehead is essential for EEG signal quality. AiGo uses a layout derived from the international 10-20 standard system, optimized for alertness monitoring over the prefrontal cortex.

Important: Skin-to-sensor contact is critical for signal quality. If the skin is dry or cosmetic products are present, clean the forehead before putting on the headband. If hair lies between the sensor and the scalp, move it aside to ensure direct contact.
04 — Quick guide

Steps before each session

Follow these steps at the start of each driving shift to ensure proper signal acquisition.

Powering on and status check

Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. The status LED will flash violet, indicating the device is starting up. Release the button.

Low battery notice
If the LED flashes red, remaining battery is under 1 hour. Recharge the device before starting a long driving shift.

Wearing and adjusting the headband

Position the headband on your head following these guidelines to ensure proper electrode contact:

  • The 4 frontal electrodes must rest directly on the forehead skin, approximately 2–3 cm above the eyebrows.
  • The lateral reference electrodes must contact the temples.
  • Adjust the rear elastic strap so the headband is firm yet comfortable. Do not overtighten: correct tension is just enough to prevent slipping during head movement.
  • Check that no hair is caught between the electrodes and scalp.
Tip
If wearing glasses or a work cap, put on AiGo first and adjust other accessories afterwards to avoid disturbing the lateral sensors.

Connecting to the GO app

AiGo transmits EEG data in real time to the GO mobile app via Bluetooth Low Energy. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.

  • Open the GO app on your smartphone.
  • The app will automatically detect the powered-on AiGo device nearby. Tap «Connect».
  • Wait for the signal quality check: the app displays the contact status of each of the 6 electrodes. All indicators should be green before beginning monitoring.
  • If any electrode shows grey or red, press gently on the headband at the indicated sensor to improve contact.

Charging the device

At the end of each driving shift, recharge AiGo to ensure full battery life for the next day.

  • Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the charging port on the side of the central module.
  • Connect the other end to any standard USB-A power source (5 V, min 1 A).
  • The blinking yellow LED indicates charging is in progress. When fully charged (~2 hours), the LED turns solid green.
  • Do not use the device while charging.
05 — Maintenance

Device care

Proper maintenance of AiGo ensures optimal measurement performance and extends the lifespan of sensors and electronic components.

Sensor cleaning

  • Clean electrodes after each use with a soft cloth lightly moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
  • Never submerge the headband or central module in water or any other liquids.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, chemical solvents, or bleach.

Maintenance & spares

  • Dry Ag/AgCl electrodes have an estimated lifespan of ~6 months with daily professional use.
  • Replace sensors if you observe visible scratches, surface wear, or frequent signal contact warnings.
  • Use only genuine Oraigo replacement parts to ensure measurement accuracy.

Storage

  • Store AiGo in its supplied protective hard case whenever not in active use.
  • Store at room temperature (15–25 °C), away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • If unused for extended periods, recharge the battery at least once every 3 months.

Read carefully before use. Compliance with these guidelines ensures safe and compliant operation of the device.

Not a substitute for rest

AiGo and the GO app are alertness support tools, not substitutes for actual rest. If you feel tired, stop safely immediately, regardless of what the app indicates.

Non-medical device

AiGo is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of any condition (including sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea or narcolepsy).

Electrical safety

Use only CE-certified chargers with 5 V output. Do not attempt to open or modify the central module or battery. Do not use if casing is visibly damaged.

Liquid resistance

AiGo is IP42 rated (resistant to dripping water and sweat). Do not expose to direct water jets, heavy rain, or submerge in liquids. Do not wear with wet hair.

Skin sensitivity

Electrodes use biocompatible materials. In rare cases of skin irritation, redness, or prolonged discomfort, discontinue use and consult a physician.

Electromagnetic compatibility

AiGo complies with CE/RED electromagnetic standards. In environments with strong RF emissions (e.g. near high-power radio transmitters), signal quality may degrade.
